Everybody knows that you can’t get rid of old IRS tax debts in bankruptcy, right? Right! And by “right!” I mean the “everybody knows” part. The reality is that you might be able to get rid of some older IRS tax debts through a bankruptcy. Specifically, certain older income tax debts owed to the IRS might be eligible for discharge if certain requirements are met. And if there are taxes that are still not eligible for bankruptcy treatment, there are other, non-bankruptcy solutions available to help you manage that burden.
Other kinds of taxes, such as payroll taxes that you might owe as a small business owner, can’t be discharged in a bankruptcy, but there are other solutions that can help you to deal with them.
I’m really looking forward to helping people deal with their IRS issues!
